My boy’s teacher celebrated her birthday last Friday, so I thought I’d finally make some scented sachets. They make for lovely little presents and are so easy to make you can whip up a few more for yourself. 🙂 I had some soft purple DK yarn around somewhere and figured it would be a nice project to try some different stitches.
First is the basket weave stitch. You can find a clear description here. Second is a chevron stitch, I followed this description. I skipped the row of single crochets and just alternated colors with each set of triangles. Third stitch is the solid scallop. You can find the chart here, I got it off Pinterest. I you need more scallops, just add 6 stitches to the chain in the chart.
I use DK weight yarn and a no. 5 needle. My foundation chains were approx. 25 ch., depending on the stitch.
I made some inner sachets using scrap fabric. Make sure the fabric you use isn’t too thick. And have a go practising you worse sewing EVER because for once no one will notice. 🙂 I made a loop with a piece of faux leather in case I needed to hang them.
Close your crochet work with a single crochet stitch, or use a needle if you prefer. Make sure to leave the loop out and push the loose ends in. Voila, done. Now make some more.
